Something In Here Stinks

John Maxwell tells a story about a grandfather sleeping on a couch when his young grandchildren decide to play a trick on him. They go to the refrigerator and pull out some extra smelly cheese. They take the cheese and quietly rub a little on their grandpa’s mustache.

After a few moments, the man’s nose begins to twitch. Then his head starts to toss. And finally, grandpa sits up with a sour look on his face and says, “Something in here stinks!”

He gets up and searches the entire house for the source of the foul smell. Finally, he walks outside, takes a deep breath, and says, “The whole world stinks!”

Luckily for grandpa, soap and water will take away the smell. But for the person who walks around with a critical and judgmental spirit, the whole world will continue to stink. Without grace and humility, our relationships will suffer.

If you want to get rid of the stink in your life, be humble and show grace.

“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
