Are you swimming in darkness? Is there some darkness trying to find its way into your life?
I got some Good News for you today. God can work with that. There is nothing too dark that God cannot shine a light into.
The first chapter of Genesis speaks of an artist who makes light shine through darkness and beauty out of chaos. If God can do that with the creation of the world just think what God can do with your life?
This opening act of creation is a reminder that the world God created is not accidental or arbitrary. Creation is not an after-thought or by-product. God was not bored one day and thought I will go and create something. Creation expresses the joy, wonderment, and awe of an artist who carefully lays out the details of his art work. This is an artist that takes great delight in his work, pays attention to detail, and gets caught up in the story line of the work. This is an artist who after each section of his work is done he stands back and says, “It is good.”
Genesis is a book of beginnings. Who is living in a dark place and needs light to shine? Who doesn’t need a new beginning?
“In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:1-4)
